About Me: Professor Glutes
The Woman Behind 'Professor Glutes'
I thought you'd like to know a bit about the Brand and the woman behind 'Professor Glutes' - a glute specialist and personal trainer based in Bridgend, South Wales.
16 Years of Fitness Experience
My background in health & Fitness is diverse but my aim is very niche. During my 20 years of fitness experience I have developed fantastic insight into what athletes WANT and what athletes NEED!
I went to an independent sports faculty up until the age of 13 where I competed in athletics; predominately sprint & power based sports. I kept up my fitness with competing in running events whilst studying sports biomedicine in university. Upon graduating I developed a passion for CrossFit as this incorporated all components of fitness! I completed my Level 1 & 2 in Olympic lifting and coached alongside my career in the medical industry.
Battling an injury led me to compete in sprint track cycling. I worked with some tremendous coaches and built on my sports therapy knowledge.
My cycling came to an end in lockdown. I resorted to very functional diverse training in all sports to fulfil my passion to be challenged and keep up my fitness. I acquired sound knowledge about sport specific training and met so many inspirational athletes that taught me a lot about rehab, mobility, cross training and supplementary exercises.
I prepared for bodybuilding events where I wanted to enter the "WELLNESS" category. I never made it further than 6 weeks out as my love for intense sports suffered. Yet, I realised even more so that glutes were important, not only for performance but for aesthetics!
The Importance of Glute Plans
With several years experience in the medical industry; orthopaedic spine, I developed a particular interest in holistic health. I recognised how devastating it was to have a competitive nature whilst dealing with injuries. A weak core; including your glute muscles was predominantly the cause of a lot of injuries and imbalances which affected athletes and their ability to perform at their potential.
I understood that to be at your PEAK you have to be training very smartly. You must have a holistic approach where the whole person is coached rather than their physical performance only.
GLUTE DEVELOPMENT AND POWER were a key component in every single sport I participated in.
GLUTE WEAKNESS was a critical issue amongst athletes regarding injuries.
GLUTE ACTIVATION was a fundamental aim of coaches, in order for their athletes to excel.
